Why Employees Steal...

Employees see opportunities to steal from employers because employers make it easy to steal.

90% of the time, its the managers fault. For example: If you leave inventory by the back door, and have little or no video security cameras, then you are tempting the employees to steal.

Your management team is probably responsible for some theft by providing temptation.

Here are some of the most often reasons employees say they steal:

1. I am way underpaid for my skills. So I will get even where I can.

2. Everybody takes things, even my boss.

3. The company makes a huge profit off of me, I deserve what I am taking.

4. My boss anoyed me off and I this is how I get revenge.

Protect your company after a theft too There are serious legal and employee relation problems that can arise from not handling a theft in an appropriate manner. Here are some tips to evaluate employee theft, after the fact.

1. Deal with employees suspected of theft carefully. Employee interviews about a theft tests the emotions, restraint, legal knowledge and objectivity of every manger and supervisor.

3. Gather evidence, including video from anyone of our DVR's,  regarding the theft possible, prior to taking any action, large or small.
